In the Saddle!

An exciting finish to a dramatic day of racing!

June 02, 2019

Stage 3 of the Cascade Cycling Classic followed a classic route known as the Cascade Lakes Road Race, but a new 2 mile gravel sector meant this year’s edition was sure to be exciting. We reasoned a breakaway would have a good chance of getting away from the peloton and riding away, so I rolled to the start line ready to set off fireworks. Sure enough I found myself in a strong breakaway just minutes into the race, motivated to…

Another year, another National Title

May 15, 2019

Collegiate National Championships 2019 This past weekend, I competed in the Collegiate Road National Championships in Augusta, Georgia for my college, the University of Colorado Boulder. Joining me were eight other CU men including my 303 Project teammate Grant Ellwood. The weekend consisted of team and individual time trials on Friday, road race Saturday, and criterium Sunday.  I sat out the time trials to give other guys a chance to race them as well as to save myself for the…

Tour of the Gila, Monster bites back

May 10, 2019

Tour of the Gila never disappoints!   We went into this race with high expectations and wanting to stamp our authority. While we had some bumps along the way in the end we still took the bull by the horns and raced bikes. Stage 1, we had a crash change our team plans and then focus for the rest of the race. Stage 2, the team played its cards and in the end walked away with two top ten finishes…

Joe Martin Stage Race, an Arkansas gem

April 11, 2019

What makes for a phenomenal bike race? If you ask me, a great race is one that takes many facets of racing and blends them into one event. Steep climbs, fast descents, a technical course, and a strong field of competitors would undoubtedly make for an exciting day. Fortunate for the 303 Project, the 2019 edition of Joe Martin Stage Race delivered all of these features and made for a memorable four days of racing.    This year’s race started…

Opening a new chapter, Redlands Bicycle Classic

March 21, 2019

Redlands was my first race with 303 Project. I was eager to join up with my new team in California and meet the guys. I’ve heard great things about the race so was keen to get the season going. We stayed in the beautiful home of Zach and Andi. I arrived a couple of days before the race to see some of the parcour and get to know the team. I instantly fell in love with California and loved the riding around there. I…

THERE’S SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST TRYING TO GO FASTER

April 25, 2018

The 303 Project is a professional racing team. But we’re founded upon much more fundamental principles than just that, some of which may seem counter to traditional concepts of what it means to be a UCI racing program at first glance. First and foremost, we firmly believe that American bike racing needs to establish deep community roots to continue to grow. As a brand new program, we see no better way to achieve this than to follow the model of so…

#seekandenjoy

February 09, 2018

This week’s blog entry comes from one of our returning riders, Taylor Warren. Based in sunny San Diego, CA, Taylor has been racking up the base miles for the past few months. But unlike many professional bike racers, Taylor takes a unique approach to these base miles by making destination trips out of his long rides into the desert. Most recently, this took the form of a camping trip to Joshua Tree National Park. Here is that experience, first-hand: #SeekAndEnjoy Joshua Tree…

2018 US Cyclocross Nationals & Team USA Worlds Selection

January 30, 2018

303 Project young gun Grant Ellwood had a great race at the US Cyclocross National Championships earlier this month, bagging himself a Team USA World Championships nomination after a third place finish in the U23 race. Here are a few words from Grant on that event and the selection process for the US Worlds team. The big show is this coming weekend in Valkenburg, NL. We wish both Grant and Maxx Chance, our other U23 rider representing his country at this race, all…

First Win Of The Season

January 23, 2018

First-year 303 Project rider Tony Baca opens up the team’s race book for the season with a win. It’s not exactly what you might expect from a professional road racer. But we love how Tony embodies the spirit of this program with this fun-forward route to early season fitness. In the process, Tony tested his bike handling skills in the utterly unique format of racing bikes on snow, he challenged his body in some unique conditions, and he made some…

New Season, New Opportunity, New Friends

January 12, 2018

Boulder-based program The 303 Project has stepped up to UCI Continental status for the 2018 season. Coming on the heels of a highly successful debut season as a Domestic Elite team, this rapid rise to the professional ranks signals a seriously motivated rider base and team leadership. As a first-year rider for the program, I’m incredibly excited to be joining that momentum. Likewise, this season will also mark my own debut in the professional ranks. Several of my new teammates…

303 Project Stepping It Up!

January 03, 2018

2018 is a new year and a new season. With this new beginning, we are introducing some new riders and staff, new goals, and tackling new opportunity! After a really successful introductory 2017 season as a top-level amateur team, we were alI super motivated. As the team owner, I believed the riders deserved a shot at the next level. So, at the end of the season we reached out to find some of our biggest supporters that believed in us…
